Rheology Modifiers
Associative and non-associative thickeners (ASE, HASE and HEUR) for viscosity profile control, sag resistance, storage stability and a predictable application window.
Typical application systems
Chemistry directions
- ASE alkali-swellable emulsions
- HASE hydrophobically modified
- HEUR polyurethane associative
- Non-ionic thickeners
How it works
Rheology additives shape the entire viscosity-versus-shear curve: high viscosity at rest to prevent settling and sagging, controlled mid-shear for levelling, low viscosity at application shear for spray or roller.
What it solves
- Sagging and runs on vertical or high-build application
- Pigment settling and syneresis in storage
- Poor spatter resistance during roller application
- Insufficient film build in a single pass

HASE vs ASE Thickeners: How to Choose for Waterborne Paints
ASE and HASE thickeners both rely on alkali neutralisation, but HASE adds hydrophobic association. A comparison of the rheology profiles, application behaviour and formulation trade-offs behind the choice.
Additives for Polyurethane Systems
Polyurethane chemistry restricts additive choice more than any other coating system. Moisture sensitivity, hydroxyl and amine functionality, and pot-life effects: what to watch for in 2K PU formulation.
